Job Summary

The Campus Security Clerk provides essential administrative and clerical support to the Campus Security Department to ensure compliance with university policies, federal and state regulations, and public safety standards. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate security records, assisting with compliance documentation, updating the security website, and supporting day-to-day administrative functions to enhance campus safety operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Clery Act reporting requirements or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with website content management systems (CMS) preferred.
  • Prior experience with incident reporting software or records management systems is a plus.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a security, public safety, or law enforcement setting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in business administration, criminal justice, or a related field.

Essential Job Duties

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Assist in compiling and preparing the Annual Security Report (ASR) in compliance with the Clery Act.
  • Maintain and update the Daily Crime Log, ensuring all reported incidents are accurately recorded and posted as required.
  • Support the preparation and submission of security-related reports, audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in gathering and organizing crime statistics from campus security, local law enforcement agencies, and other sources.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries related to campus security, providing courteous and professional assistance.
  • Maintain and organize electronic and physical security records, including incident reports, access control logs, and training records.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings, training sessions, and security-related events.
  • Support budget tracking, procurement of supplies, and invoice processing for the department.

Key Responsibilities

Website & Communications Management:

  • Update and maintain the Campus Security website, ensuring that information regarding policies, procedures, emergency contact details, and security updates remain current.
  • Assist in drafting and distributing campus-wide security communications, alerts, and informational bulletins.
  • Manage security department social media updates as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Support Functions:

  • Assist in processing and tracking campus access requests, including ID badge issuance and access control changes.
  • Support the maintenance and updating of emergency response plans and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with other university departments on security-related issues, such as building access and special event security planning.
  • Maintain office supplies and security equipment inventory.

Key Responsibilities

Other Duties:

  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Campus Security leadership team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operational efficiency of the Campus Security Department.

  • Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
  • May require occasional evening or weekend hours for special security events or emergency situations.
