We are seeking a versatile and proactive Sports Reporter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for covering local high school and college sports, including Cal Poly Humboldt and College of the Redwoods, as well as general local news. This role requires a passion for storytelling, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to build strong relationships within the community. The reporter must be adaptable, comfortable working with a small team, and ready to jump between sports and news coverage as needed. What you will do:Reporting at least two byline stories per day on a variety of sports and news topics. Cover local events, from high school and college games to city council meetings, conducting on-site interviews with coaches, athletes, and community leaders. Produce a mix of content, including game recaps, player and coach profiles, and event previews.
