The pay range above represents the minimum and maximum rate for this position in California. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range. Salary range will vary for remote positions outside of California and future increases will be based on the pay band for the city and state you reside in.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position plays a critical role in streamlining the claims process by ensuring that all necessary information is gathered at the beginning stages, preventing delays later in the process. The Mailroom Associate is responsible for managing and organizing incoming and outgoing mail and packages within an organization. This role typically involves sorting, distributing, and sometimes processing documents and materials, including medical claims, in various forms (paper, electronic, etc.).

This position is 100% in-person at the office.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statements

  1. Organizational Skills: The ability to sort and prioritize a high volume of mail and materials.
  2. Attention to Detail: Ensuring that items are properly labeled, sorted, and delivered.
  3. Communication Skills: Ability to interact with coworkers and external contacts for inquiries or issues related to mail.
  4. Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with tracking systems or mailroom management software.
  5. Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move boxes, packages, and large quantities of mail.
  6. Time Management: Capable of meeting deadlines for sorting, processing, and sending out mail in a timely manner.

Common Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in a mailroom, office administration, or similar role may be preferred, but is often not required.
  3. Familiarity with handling sensitive or confidential materials, especially in medical, legal, or financial settings.

This role is critical for ensuring that an organization's communication flows smoothly, particularly in environments like medical claims processing, where timely delivery and organization of materials are essential for operational efficiency.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience:

  1. 2 or more years of mailroom and/or data entry experience
  2. Prior experience with Medi-Cal claims is preferred
  3. Medi-Cal/Medicaid managed care experience strongly desired.

Computer Skills: Intermediate computer skills included in the MS Office products.

Other Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  2. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
