Job Summary

The Saw Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining sawmill equipment to process logs into lumber efficiently and safely. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure optimal production performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate sawmill equipment to cut logs into lumber according to specifications.
• Monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and product quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols.
• Inspect lumber for quality control, ensuring correct sizing and minimizing waste.
• Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to optimize workflow.
• Keep work areas clean and organized to maintain a safe environment.
• Report equipment issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Follow all company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience operating sawmill saws or similar machinery preferred.
• Knowledge of lumber grading, cutting techniques, and production processes.
• Ability to read measurements and blueprints accurately.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and adjustments.
• Commitment to safety protocols and workplace regulations.
• Physical ability to stand, lift, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
