The Opportunity: The
Senior Inventory Analyst is responsible for managing the accuracy and integrity of inventory and operations within Sephora's network of Distribution Centers (DCs), and retail stores, as well as being a key player amongst business partners within Retail Operations/Loss Prevention in all matters shrinkage.
The role will play a strong part in supporting the Canadian DCs in their efforts to harmonize with the US DCs, including but not limited to, establishing best practices, mirroring inventory adjustment processes, cycle counting initiatives, Root Cause Analysis of shrink movements, and intercompany transfers of inventory. This role will drive continued process and systems enhancements, including documenting and implementing process changes within the DCs to align across the network. The role will also be working directly with Supply Chain on an ongoing basis with inventory-related issues related to the receiving, tracking, and reporting of purchase order receipts and corresponding vendor transactions.
In addition to the DCs, this role will require a strong detail-oriented person with experience in managing and analyzing large sets of data to ensure success of the physical inventories for all North American Sephora retail stores. The role will be required to correspond directly with third party suppliers to support our physical inventory scheduling with Retail Operations, as well as manage and track the status of all physical inventories (including following up with delinquent stores and/or missing information to ensure shrinkage is posted to the financials in a timely manner) and allow stores to resume business with minimum disruptions to operations.
The role will also be responsible for the preparation of month-end journal entries recording shrinkage to the financials, as well as monthly reporting to management on results. In addition, the role will also be the point of contact for any analytical or reporting requests from business partners. The role will also speak to variance analysis on inventory-related areas during the month-end financial meetings and working with BP&A business partners.
This role will focus on identifying areas of optimization for existing internal processes, as well as presenting to leadership to drive alignment and address budget concerns related to inventories.
In addition, you will... - Supporting Canada DCs to harmonize with US in all areas of inventory (see job summary for details)
- Month-End closing activities:
- Prepare monthly accrual calculations for shrinkage
- Preparing reporting for senior management and month-end meetings
- Prepare intercompany reporting for Global
- Review monthly financial results for inventory-related areas, and speak to variance drivers as compared to budget/forecast
- Schedule/manage/track status of physical inventories for all North American stores
- Develop S&OP and controls to monitor company-wide inventory transactions based on reporting from IT, including recommendations for report modifications to suit business needs
- Review and approve final shrink postings to the financial statement for total North America
- Review & approve RTVs to ensure minimal financial liability to Sephora
- Identifying and driving process/systems enhancements across DC network
- Support annual audit with internal (LVMH) and external auditors (Deloitte & Touche)
- Partner with Loss Prevention to analyze and set annual shrink goals on an individual store level based on historical performances and trend
- Work with Strategic Sourcing on managing contract renewals with existing suppliers and identifying potential new suppliers
We'd love to hear from you if you have... - 5+ years of General Ledger/financial reporting experience
- CPA Certification Preferred
- 1-2 years of Inventory/Cost Accounting experience
- 1-2 years of Retail/store operations experience
- SAP/S4 ERP experience highly desired
- Technically efficient with systems and ability to improve processes by utilizing technology to enhance operational efficiency, productivity and reduce manual workload
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as attention to detail
- Ability to manage and analyze large sets of data
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel (intermediate formulas, e.g. VLOOKUP, COUNTIFS)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization
- Prior experience in retail operations and/or corporate retail a plus
- Process improvement/optimization experience a plus
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
The annual base salary range for this position is $114,750.00 - $128,250.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant's qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
