Job Summary
Explore a rewarding job in education by becoming an After-School Program Assistant at Eureka City Schools. The workdays for the After-School Program Assistant positions follow the school calendar, with holidays and breaks off. Part-time positions may be combined to give you more hours and the possibility of benefits.

Shift: Average of 2 hrs/day - 4.35/day based on a 5-day week depending on site and student needs.
The After-School Program times are below. Employees will likely not work the entire program times, instead shifts are often staggered. Employees may be asked to start 15 minutes prior to the program starting or 15 minutes after the program ends. Mondays are early release days, so employees may work longer on Mondays compared to other days of the week.
Program Times (Not work times):
Elementary Schools: Monday 1:42pm - 6:00pm, Tues - Fri 2:30pm - 6:00pm
Middle Schools: Monday 2:16pm - 6:00pm, Tues - Fri 3:19pm - 6:00pm
Applicants will be considered for the 24-25 school year, with a start date as early as August, 2024.

Requirements / Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid California Driver's License (Copy taken at time of hire)
DOJ/FBI Fingerprint Clearance (upon offer and acceptance of position)
Paraprofesssional Certificate* or equivalent: two years of college (48 units) or AA Degree or higher

The paraprofessional test is offered through HCOE and can be reserved and paid for online. Here is a link to the booking system: . The test is proctored weekly on Tuesdays at 10 and the cost of the test is $7.00. If you have any questions, please call HCOE directly at 707.###.####

Below are links to practice for the paraprofessional test that is offered by HCOE. Once you pass, they will give you a card. You send me a picture of the card or stop by the Personnel Office, Rm. 110 at the District Office, and we can copy it for you.

Current Eureka City Schools regular employees who wish to LATERAL TRANSFER from their current position may submit a transfer request form to the Personnel Office by the deadline date. (Please refer to your Union Contract for Lateral Transfer eligibility language). Probationary employees are not eligible for a lateral transfer but may apply as a general applicant.
